Yellowstone Scenery

These photos are in alpha order - I have hundreds more. If you are interested in any of these (or other) scenery shots, please contact me at sbbyland@aol.com

Beartooth Pass is northeast of Yellowstone National Park at about 12,000 feet

Another scene from the road to Beartooth Pass - I drove here looking for Rosey Finches - No luck, but plenty of Pipits and great scenery

Firehole Falls on the Firehole River just north of Old Faithful

Firehole Falls on the Firehole River just north of Old Faithful - to get the soft water look, find an overcast day where you can get a shutter speed of less than 1 second - not that easy to do. I had to use a polarizer to slow things down.

View of the Yellowstone River looking north from the Fishing Bridge. Fishing is no longer allowed from the Fishing Bridge as it was harmful to the population of Cutthroat Trout

ew of the Yellowstone River looking south from the Fishing Bridge towards Lake Yellowstone

The Grand Caynon of Yellowstone looking towards the Lower Falls in the distance

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone - view from Inspiration Point - way too many tour busses at the Grand Canyon locations to really want to spend much time there.

Another view of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone from Inspiration Point

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone - Lower Falls. Certain times in the summer, you can get rainbows in the mist. I imagine the crowds are intollerable.

The Gibbon River runs through the Gibbon Meadows which is not only beautiful, but is home to a number of mammals

Another view of Gibbon Meadows

The Gibbon River (NOT in Gibbon Meadows) near Madison Junction

The Hoodoos - a very large pile of huge rocks - people seem to like large piles of rocks and like to have their pictures taken with them

Twin Lakes, according to the guidebook, is supposed to be home to numerous ducks and some Moose - they must have been on a break

Vertical shot of Undine Falls

The Yellowstone River at Otter Creek

Another view of the Yellowstone River at Otter Creek - no otters here, but there was a muskrat. Muskrat creek just doesn't have much of a ring to it.
